Gosh and golly I do have some recollection of the woodlands before the road and all the camps I was able to visit in a few years. Goodness it seems like yesterday I was living at Kamp Kaos with a few folk who passed through on their travels. Our kamp was just off the beaten track near a little bridge. It was a pretty woodland setting with a lovely swamp and some good mature trees. It was 1995 and all was well. I remember hearing the news the road would finally get the go ahead here on the radio. My heart sank it seemed so final but I knew there were many kamps like ours around and we would stand strong!! I feel that the Middle Oak mentioned in the title is like that favourite tree from your childhood that you remember so well and keep in your heart forever! Everyone has a Middle Oak like tree they remember do you?
Mine was actually a beech I remember climbing up into her branches when I was young and finding the funny little caterpillars around on the leaves. I will return to where I come from one day and go visit my favourite tree. She's special to me and me alone!
Best wishes for the coming yule, May your favourite tree last forever!
