The ongoing tale....

My own new home is based in Greenham and although that may sound idyllic it's like living next door to Route 66 here. Behind the treeline outback is the link road to the bypass A339 which comes up from town and heads up through the pass where the gully flows through the woods to the top of the hill. Although at night up in the nightingale woods it may look like a country lane it is far from that they have in mind these monsters. Their idea is to drive a dying dual carriageway straight though our gully through the woods. There is a little stream along the edge of the treeline and there are some ancient and wonderful oaks and other trees here. I understand about progress and moving forward as humanity. But and this is a big but, we need to live in harmony with the Great Mother Earth and create our world around us in beautiful ways. There are many good worlds evolving daily such as the organic revolution, the way of growing in harmony with the Moon called biodynamic. Plus the most beautiful harmony with the Earth yet the way of Permaculture. All these ways of life in harmony with the Great Mother earth give us a real hope for the future of this planet. Also back in the late Eighties the Green Belt Act highlighted the need to respect the countryside and protect the world from urban sprawl. Why then did the road in Newbury get the go ahead? What was going through their tiny minds to build a monstrosity like the bypass anywhere near beautiful woodland, historic sites and people's homes. So many local people felt strongly about how the proposed road would completely destroy everything we called safe. At one point all lanes leading in and out of town lead through beautiful countryside. What were they thinking of ? Really with traffic management on the Robin Hood easing the flow of traffic plus ensuring the big lorries trundling through town were kept to the wee hours most of the problems with the townspeople's journeys were sorted out. Little forethought went into this before such dire measures as obliterating our world were taken. Why is that? All the cyclepaths plus car sharing to work, better bus and train services and real townsfolk who care for this town coming out in force to speak out against the commuters who simply journey here from London and pay little attention to our local area and the beauty spots here.

So much more could be done with town planning to avoid threatening the green belt and building new homes with the new "brownfield" idea. This might sound funny but really it's the idea behind turning all the desolate industrial areas into new thriving hubs of life. Taking such places back to basics is called turning this back to a brown field. In London, Tower Hamlets have taken this a step further where Women with the Women's Environment Network are growing food in their raised bed urban gardens as a "Taste of a Better Future". All this shows how we can turn this delapidated country of ours after everything shut down and people who were once out of work with no hope can live like farmers do in the country off their own homegrown veggies!! So much hope this would bring the people of this country who were left reliant on welfare benefits when the factories of the past shut down and whole areas were left abandoned. Unemployment skyrocketed and people like myself at a young age had little hope of a better future. Please remember the famines and desolation of animal's habitats that happened because of urban sprawl and massive over population from people so called human beings. Remember remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot. The man named Guy Fawkes stood against both King James the !st and his parliament in the name of the freedom of the people of this country. Since the days of the Norman King John who destroyed commoners living quietly and minding their own business. Living and working for themselves quietly in the country. He not only was a dictator but stopped the natural countryfolk living off the land where they worked hard to make ends meet. Why did he break up the beautiful countryside or demand payment of rent? The land belonged to the people of this country who cared for the country side and lived carefully in harmony with the wildlife. Who did Norman King John think he was? All he is truly is an invader of our blessed country of Britain where are his native lands anyway. Why threaten the very lifeblood of this beautiful land? Who is he? Please stand strong in the face of monsters who threaten what has always been the way of life of our people of Earth.
